Woodworking and boats are my vocation and my avocation, a lifelong passion fueled by growing up on the west coast of Florida, where living on and from the Gulf of Mexico was the core of the economy and the primary recreational activity. My start in woodworking and boatbuilding began as a teenager and became a profession with house carpentry in the early 70’s while in college. In 1980 I returned to wooden boats as a lifestyle and a livelihood. Graduate school turned out to be rebuilding a 37’ Geiger designed yawl and working at Clearwater Bay Marine Ways, learning all aspects of traditional wooden boat repair. For the past 30 years I’ve worked as an independent craftsman in a one-man shop, which allows a high degree of focus on each project and flexibility in the range of work.
